What I’ve learnt this year

With 2025 already here, I wanted to share with you some lessons I have learned from 2024 and how I will attempt to use them going forwards into 2025.

2024 was probably one of the hardest years of my life, but I can honestly say that exercise was one thing that helped me from the brink of despair. I will go more into detail about my goals for 2025 in another post, but for now I wanted to quickly share these lessons that have made me become a stronger person in the face of adversity.

My First Lesson:

It’s ok to ask for help.

This was a big one for me. I have always been so independent (if not a little head strong), so asking for help has always been something I have struggled with, especially when it’s something I know I can’t reciprocate. But realising that my friends, my family and everyone around me would rather help me than watch me suffer, just as I would do the same for them, has been huge for me this year.

Launching my app I was terrified to ask anyone to help me. Would they say no? Would they have a different vision that didn’t align with me? Would it impact our relationship?

But the reality is that the people who care for you and the ones that matter, should love you and respect you enough to be there for you in times of need. The amount of times I have heard the words, ‘Why didn’t you just ask?’ made me realise that there really is nothing wrong with asking for help. In fact it has made me stronger, it has helped my relationships and it has opened up new avenues of growth for me. Embracing this lesson has shown me that vulnerability is not a weakness—it's a strength that fosters deeper connections and support.

My Second Lesson:

Consistency is key, but flexibility is essential.

2024 taught me that while having a routine is important, being adaptable in the face of life’s unpredictabilities can lead to greater success. There were weeks when my schedule was packed, and my usual workout plans got tossed aside, but instead of panicking, I learned to find creative ways to stay active. Whether it was a quick home workout, a brisk walk during a break, or incorporating movement into family time, I discovered that fitness doesn't always have to look the same.

As I set my goals for 2025, I'm prioritizing consistency in my workouts while also allowing the flexibility to adjust my plans when necessary. This balance will hopefully help me stay committed without feeling overwhelmed, ensuring I maintain the joy in my fitness journey.

My Third Lesson:

Celebrate small victories.

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it’s easy to overlook the small wins. However, I’ve come to realize that each step forward deserves recognition. Whether it's completing an extra set in my workout, preparing a healthy meal, or simply sticking to my daily goals, these accomplishments add up and are vital for building momentum and confidence.

Moving forward, I’ll be setting aside time at the end of each week to reflect on and celebrate these small victories. This practice not only keeps me motivated but also reinforces the positive habits I want to maintain.

As I look ahead to 2025, I’m excited to implement these lessons into my daily, weekly, and monthly goals. With a clear vision and intention, I'm ready to inspire others to embark on their journeys as well—and hopefully, you’ll join me!

Let’s step into the new year with purpose, heart, and a commitment to growth. What lessons have you learned in 2024 that will shape your goals for the coming year? Share your thoughts below—I’d love to hear from you!

Here’s to a transformative and empowering New Year ahead!
